Nkuku was established on the back of a life-changing adventure. They (Ali and Alex Cooke) set off on a year-long round the world trip. Nkuku work with artisans throughout the world, cooperate timeless design with natural materials. Nkuku works with unconventional businesses, social projects, and co-operatives with a focal point on building strong business relationships with all of their suppliers so that they can work together towards mutual success. Nkuku work natural and recycled materials with a focus on sustainable methods of production, and this shapes their collections.
There is a great deal to tell about the character and personalities of the artisans they work with. Nkuku glassware is handmade from recycled glass. Nkuku natural vegetable fiber that can be revolved into coarse strong threads, perfect for creating their beautiful collection of durable rugs and baskets. Nkuku value this age-old knowledge and hope to help keep it alive. They love the character in each item, the handmade nature of their products is what they believe sets them apart.
